2nd edition AI Accelerator

This year, it has taken place the 2nd edition of the AI Accelerator. This program seeks to accelerate the process of market access for high-value and high-impact technological solutions. Consequently of a talent caption phase, the program moved to a second phase, the AI Startup Weekend, that happened this past October 4th in the Fusion Point of ESADE, in Sant Cugat del Vallès (BCN). The projects worked during the workday will be presented to investors during the celebration of 4YFN, during the MWC25 in Barcelona, next march. The participants of the AI Startup Weekend received guidance from industry professionals, like Josep Lladós, CVC Director, Victoria Cochrane, Director of ESADE’s Rambla of Innovations, or, Arnau Serra, Coordinator of the Catalonia AI Strategy (CTTI), who provided tools and technical and business support to the five projects of the edition:

  • Skynote, a musical learning system that improves practice efficiency
  • LiverColor, a platform that analyses the viability of hepatic transplants
  • VirtualDraping, an e-commerce tool that allows you to try on clothes vitually
  • MMQ, a multimodal platform that allows the reading of images and text in any kind of document
  • Smart TDS, an intelligent system that centralizes and analyses data from the tourism sector to improve planning in Catalonia

The next phase of the AI Accelerator will take place duyring the month of February, where the projects will arrive with a prototype of their work that can be presented to the market and attract funding. The training of the participants will be conducted by ESADE, offering training support and its spaces at La Rambla d’Innovació to incubate the selected projects. With this new edition of the program AI Accelerator, the Catalonia Government, through the Catalonia.AI strategy, continues to support the creation of a technological entrepreneurship ecosystem, where the companies and researchers can validate their ideas in real markets. The projects will be presented to investors during the 4YFN, as part of MWC25 in Barcelona, next March.

The Program

With the goal to detect and attract the talent in AI from the research centers and universities of Catalonia, the program AI Accelerator aims to speed up the process of bringing technological solutions to market that are being developed. Another objective of the program is to retain the talent in Catalunya and facilitate the creation of new AI-based companies. It is part of Catalonia.AI, the Estratègia d’Intel·ligència Artificial by the Government of Catalonia to establish the territory as an international reference in research, innovation, talent generation and attraction, companies, and investors related to this technology. The AI Accelerator is a joint initiative of the Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA) and the RDI-IA Network, coordinated respectively by the i2CAT Foundation and the Centre de Visió per Computador (CVC).
